Bradenham

Aylesbury Estate, London, 2018

A celebration of the Aylesbury Estate

In 2017, when Phase 1 of the Aylesbury Estate Regeneration program was complete, purple hoardings were put up all around the site, displaying little or no information about the project. The archives were dominated by news clippings of crimes in the neighbourhood, with little about the estate itself. A few articles however, had stories of people who actually lived on the estate, describing their daily lives in much detail. These were collected to form Bradenham.

Almost all the blocks of the Aylesbury estate are named after places in Buckinghamshire. The gap in the timeline between the conceptualisation and construction of the Aylesbury estate was filled in with descriptions of these blocks as they are now with reference to the places in Buckinghamshire, as paying homage to the architect's intention.

The book was conceptually laid out as Walk Book celebrating the estate with each window revealing more about the estate. The collected articles were then placed in relation to the block where the person lived.
